After Father Goldsmith passed away, the Very Rev. A. Ph. Kremer, the current Vicar General came to Chippewa Falls, but
was soon called to another field.
St. Mary's had several priests, Father Mignault came in 1858, he was replaced by Father Smeddink in 1860. In 1868
Father Smeddink was transferred to Geneva, WI and was replaced by Father Koke, who passed away from consumption.
Father Koke was replaced in 1868 by Father Abbelen. This is all the information we have at this time.
In 1891, secular priests guided Notre Dame and were successful. Now, in conformity with the express wishes of the
lamented pastor, the parish passed under the direction of the Holy Ghost Fathers. This was period that seemed to
be a time of reconstruction. The standard of education had been raised to a point which places the school on the
