First Friday Devotion

Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

The First Friday of each month was designated by our Savior Himself as a day to be consecrated to honoring His Sacred Heart. This devotion is to make our Savior Jesus Christ ardently and perfectly loved, and to make reparation for the outrages offered to Him in the past, as well as for those which he daily receives in the Blessed Eucharist. Jesus Christ merits our love at all times, but alas! He is despised and outraged in the Sacrament of His love and so people should  make reparation to Him.

Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus includes:

  • Enthronement of the Sacred Heart in the home
  • Attendance at Mass on 9 consecutive First Fridays of the month

To those who attend 9 consecutive First Friday Masses, Jesus gave these 12 promises:

Twelve Promises of the Sacred Heart

Connection to First Saturday

Each First Saturday of the month offers the opportunity to make reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Immaculate Heart of Mary is forever and indelibly intertwined with that of her son and His Sacred Heart.

When Cardinal Raymond Burke was the bishop of our diocese, he promoted the

Enthronement of our homes to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Enthroning your home to the Sacred Heart means accepting Christ as the King of your home and family. As King, He is offered a special place (throne) in the home. The Enthronement itself has a special little ceremony which Father should be asked to officiate. Please call Megan McChesney (715.861.3425) for information as to how to enthrone your home.

The pictures you see here are Enthronements in the homes of several Notre Dame families.
