Rosary

Tradition asserts the rosary was given to St. Dominic by Mary, the Mother of God. She gave it to him as a weapon against heresy and sin. The devotion of the rosary is very near to Mary's heart. The Hail Mary itself owes its origin to the rosary. The rosary is composed of 5 decades of beads. Each bead is associated with a certain prayer. A full rosary includes recitation of appropriate prayers on each bead for 15 mysteries or 3 rotations of the rosary. There is a link below which provides instructions on how to pray the rosary and the mysteries of the rosary. |

Praying the rosary before Mass is a long-standing Catholic tradition. Our rosary is prayed once through, covering the five mysteries of the day. The rosary is prayed at Notre Dame 30 minutes before each Mass. All are welcome and encouraged to join in this beautiful devotion.

The Pilgrim Queen of the Family Rosary Devotional
|
There is a group of 6 Notre Dame families who currently participate in a rosary devotion called "The Pilgram Queen of the Family". There is a traveling shrine associated with the devotion which we pass from one to another. When this Mary of Guadalupe visits our home through this shrine, we promise to pray a nightly family rosary for special intentions including with the shrine. Families keep the shrine anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks according to their own wishes. More information can be found on the Pilgrim Queen Rosary Devotional website.
If you would like to join the devotional group at Notre Dame, please contact Megan McChesney (715.861.3425) for more information. We are always happy to have more families join our established group! |
